The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has denied reports of arresting a radio presenter while she was on air, or disrupting activities at Urban Radio 94.5FM in Enugu.

In a statement issued Tuesday, EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale said that operatives went to the station to invite Favour Ekoh, host of Prime Time, for questioning over an alleged N700 million Ponzi scheme involving 50 victims.

Contrary to claims, Mr Oyewale said the EFCC agents did not tamper with the station’s equipment. He added that when the agents were prevented from making the arrest and held hostage, a rescue team was called, leading to the detention of Ekoh, the station manager, and two security guards.

The individuals were later released after giving statements at the EFCC office. Mr Oyewale emphasised the EFCC’s respect for the media as the fourth estate of the realm.
