The League of Northern Democrats (LND) has warned that ongoing negotiations with bandits risk legitimising terror and undermining security across the region. The group said dialogue only has meaning when linked to verifiable disarmament, enforced ceasefires, and credible monitoring. It criticised recent talks in Katsina for failing to meet these standards, arguing they endangered civilians and weakened accountability.
Meeting in Abuja, the LND urged northern governors to live up to their responsibilities by taking concrete steps to secure their states, stressing that excuses of structural constraints are not acceptable.

In its resolutions, signed by Assistant National Publicity Secretary Mohmood Tunde Hassan, the league also commended INEC’s handling of political party registration and called for transparency in the process. It urged stakeholders to confront insecurity and governance failures as part of repositioning the North within Nigeria’s democratic framework.
