Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, on Tuesday received 64 victims rescued from captivity in Zangon Kataf, Southern Kaduna, after sustained military operations in the area.
The group, comprising 35 males and 29 females, including children, had been held for over a month. Among them are a Deputy Director in the civil service and a family member of Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah.

The victims were formally handed over to the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, during a brief ceremony in Abuja.
Mallam Ribadu praised the Armed Forces and security agencies for what he described as a coordinated and courageous operation. He reiterated that the government maintains a strict policy against ransom payments, warning that such practices only embolden criminal networks.
He reaffirmed that no money was paid to secure the victims’ release, describing the outcome as a testament to Nigeria’s growing security capabilities.
