NSA Ribadu Visits Benue Following Deadly Attacks

The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has visited Benue State to commiserate with the people and government after a series of deadly attacks claimed over 70 lives. The visit followed President Bola Tinubu’s directive in response to what has been dubbed the “Black Friday” massacre in Katsina-Ala, Ukum, and Logo LGAs.

Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting in Makurdi, Ribadu assured Governor Hyacinth Alia and residents that the Federal Government remains committed to restoring peace. He described the killings as tragic and stressed the importance of collective action to tackle the violence.

Ribadu noted that while the administration inherited a broken security architecture, progress is being made in stabilising the system. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that Benue is not left to face the crisis alone.

Governor Alia, in his remarks, highlighted the irony of Benue’s food insecurity, despite being the world’s leading producer of yams.

He acknowledged a drop in violent incidents but urged continued efforts to fully restore peace in the state.
