NSCDC Dismantles Unapproved Road-Blocks, Dissolves Anti-Vandal Unit Nationwide

News - by RadioNow / Sep. 7th, 2022

In a bid to curb the rate of oil theft in the country, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has dissolved all its anti-vandalism units across the country following allegations that some of its personnel extorted a petroleum marketer in Rivers State.

In a statement released yesterday, Ahmed Audi, NSCDC commandant-general, said the unsatisfactory performance of the unit in the past few months prompted the need to sanitize and bring fresh zeal to the operations of the unit.

The Commandant-General also said Rauf Aregbesola, Minister of Interior, has given the approval to dismantle all unapproved roadblocks mounted by NSCDC personnel and immediately reconstitute the anti-vandal unit nationwide.
