NUPRC warns public against fake social media accounts impersonating CEO

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission has warned the public against fake social media accounts impersonating its Chief Executive, Gbenga Komolafe. The Commission said the fraudulent pages, created on platforms including X, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, are being used to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.

In a statement by its Head of Media and Strategic Communication, Eniola Akinkuotu, the NUPRC clarified that Mr Komolafe does not operate any personal social media accounts. It urged the public to avoid interacting with such pages to prevent falling victim to scams.
