Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has warned that millions of Nigerians still walk long distances to access medical services, with many dying from preventable diseases such as malaria. He spoke in Abuja at the launch of the Care365 Health Hub, a new digital platform designed to improve access and delivery of healthcare.
The event was attended by former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar and former President Goodluck Jonathan. General Abdulsalami described Nigeria’s health facilities as “grossly inadequate” and called for urgent investment, while Jonathan urged young Nigerians to embrace digital innovation to expand access to medical care.

Health Minister Muhammad Ali Pate outlined a four-pillar strategy for transforming Nigeria’s health sector. He said the plan will focus on governance reforms, improving health outcomes, unlocking the healthcare value chain, and strengthening health security.
The Care365 Health Hub features self-service monitoring kiosks that provide instant checks such as blood pressure, blood sugar, and oxygen levels. Its founder, Ngozi Odumuko, said the system is aimed at making healthcare more affordable, accessible, and of higher quality across Nigeria.
