Former Anambra governor and Labour Party 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi has criticised the demolition of plazas at the Lagos trade fair complex in Ojo. He said the exercise, carried out by state planning and building control agencies, ignored valid approvals granted to traders.
Obi, who visited the Auto Spare Parts and Machinery Dealers Association section of the market with lawmakers including Senators Enyinnaya Abaribe and Victor Umeh, commended traders for remaining calm despite their losses.

He disclosed that some senators and members of the House of Representatives have promised to investigate the demolition to determine what led to it and to prevent a repeat.
Obi added that destroying legitimate investments without due process is economically harmful, urging government at all levels to act with fairness and compassion, especially in difficult times.
