The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission, ODIEC, has formally presented certificates of return to newly elected chairmen following Saturday’s local government elections.
The exercise saw the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, secure a clean sweep, clinching all 18 chairmanship and 203 councillorship positions. According to ODIEC, a total of 12 political parties participated in the polls.

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, withdrew from the contest just 48 hours before voting commenced, citing concerns over what it termed a lack of credibility on the part of ODIEC.
Meanwhile, the Social Democratic Party, SDP, has demanded the annulment of the election, condemning it as a “show of shame.” The party’s leadership called for a review of the process, raising questions about the transparency of the electoral exercise.
