Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has officially approved a new minimum wage of N77,000 for the lowest-paid workers in the state, effective immediately.
The announcement followed a meeting between the state government and organised labour leaders, including representatives from the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Trade Union Congress, TUC, and the Joint Negotiating Council, JNC, aimed at implementing the new wage structure.
In response to the announcement, NLC Chairman Hameed Benco expressed gratitude for the decision, noting that this minimum wage is the highest in the country.

He urged the organised private sector to adopt similar measures to enhance the living standards of their employees amid the prevailing economic challenges.
