Ogun Judiciary Workers Begin Indefinite Strike Today

The Ogun State branch of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, says it is embarking on an indefinite strike starting today, April 8.

The decision to strike follows a 14-day ultimatum the union gave to the Ogun state government over non-payment of the workers’ 40 percent peculiar allowance.

In a statement on Sunday, the union said the necessary documents requested by the Ogun Government concerning their demands, had been forwarded since Friday, March 8, to Gov. Dapo Abiodun.

Also copied are the Secretary to the State Government, Head of Service, and Attorney-General of the state. The union says the forwarded documents also included the approval by the National Salaries and Wages Commission to the NJC for payment of the peculiar allowance.

The Ogun State JUSUN statement also directed all its members to stay at home until further notice is given by the union’s leadership.
