Ogun Rewards National Youth Games Athletes with Over ₦7 Million

The Ogun State Government has disbursed over seven million naira to athletes who excelled at the National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State, as part of its commitment to sports development. Governor Dapo Abiodun made this known on Wednesday while presenting cheques to the athletes, promising to nurture their talents to greater heights.  

Gold medalists received N300,000 each, silver medalists N200,000, and bronze medalists N100,000. Additionally, the immediate past Director of Sports, Mrs Oluwatoyin Alade, was rewarded with N500,000 for her dedication to youth sports development.

Represented by Commissioner of Sports, Wasiu Isiaka, Governor Abiodun attributed the state’s achievements in recent competitions to his administration’s grassroots sports initiatives. He added that revamping stadia across Ogun is part of efforts to build a strong foundation for school and grassroots sports.  

The Governor reaffirmed the state’s intention to leverage the upcoming National Sports Festival to further its sports development agenda.
