Ibadan’s monarch-in-waiting, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has pledged to return to the classroom after his coronation as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland. The former Oyo State governor, who once taught at Ibadan Boys’ High School, said he plans to take Mathematics and Physics lessons with students of his alma mater.

Oba Ladoja made the promise when the school’s principal and management team visited him at his Bodija residence. He explained that the gesture would allow him to reconnect with his academic roots and serve as inspiration for young learners, while also upholding Ibadan’s tradition of valuing knowledge and culture.
Although several of his predecessors had careers in teaching before ascending the throne, none returned to active classroom work after coronation. School authorities welcomed his vow, saying it would rekindle pride and motivate students to aim higher.
