Nigerian singer Omah Lay has said he considers himself the best artiste of the past 20 years, stating that no contemporary matches his level of creativity and musicianship. The 28-year-old made the remarks during an appearance on the NandoLeaks podcast.
He said that among Afrobeats artistes, he stands alone at the top, although he acknowledged Burna Boy as the only performer he places on a similar level. Omah Lay also expressed frustration at being grouped with other artistes, insisting he is unmatched.
The singer also spoke about personal challenges, including what he described as obsessive tendencies in relationships, which he said affected his personal life in the past year. He added that he has been working to address those issues.
