Emergency services were deployed to Otta-Ona Junction in Ikorodu, Lagos State, on Tuesday after a two-storey building under construction collapsed, leaving one person dead and nine others rescued.
The incident occurred opposite the Mobil Filling Station, prompting a swift response from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, and other frontline services.
LASEMA confirmed that a distress call was received at 2:02 p.m., with response teams arriving on site by 2:40 p.m. Rescue operations began immediately, with heavy equipment including an excavator deployed.

Nine adult males were pulled from the debris and received on-site medical attention. One body was recovered during the operation.
The cause of the collapse remains under investigation. The area has been secured to prevent further danger.
Alongside LASEMA, the Nigeria Police, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, NSCDC, LNSC, and LASBCA are involved in the ongoing emergency response.
