Only N21bn Paid to Members Not N152bn, says AICAN

The All-Indigenous Contractors Association of Nigeria, AICAN, has disputed claims by the Ministry of Finance that one hundred and fifty-two billion naira has been paid to its members. The association says only twenty one billion naira has so far been received, describing the government’s figure as false and misleading.

In a statement, the National Secretary of AICAN, Babatunde Seun, said the twenty-one billion naira was the only recent disbursement, finalised on the 31st of December 2025 and paid on the 21st of January 2026. He said while 938 companies submitted claims totalling about fifty-three billion naira, payments so far covered 611 companies with a combined value of sixty-one billion naira since December.

The association was responding to comments credited to the Minister of State for Finance, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite. AICAN said the claim of paying one hundred and fifty two billion naira was incorrect, adding that the Federal Government still owes contractors nationwide more than four trillion naira.
