Former Super Falcons striker Desire Oparanozie has criticised the Nigeria Football Federation for not doing enough to keep the women’s team ahead of rivals in Africa.
Speaking after Nigeria’s 3–0 win over Tunisia in their opening match of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON, Oparanozie said other nations have made significant strides through increased investment in women’s football.

While praising the Falcons’ dominance, she pointed to poor finishing and deeper structural issues—highlighting inadequate facilities, poor remuneration, and lack of player welfare.
Oparanozie warned that the road to a 10th title will not be easy.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie says the campaign theme ‘Mission X’ has helped build team unity as they push for victory in Morocco.
