Organised Labour Says Tinubu’s Wage Award Panel Incapable Of Resolving Issue

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, says President Bola Tinubu‘s wage panel is yet to convene since the removal of fuel subsidy 2 months ago.

NLC President, Joe Ajaero, said this yesterday after a meeting with the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and the leadership of the Senate.

Mr Ajaero accused the committee of lacking the capacity to deliver and reiterated the NLC’s rejection of negotiating the effects of subsidy removal with the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Senator Akpabio hailed the organised labour for their patience and understanding and stated that although the President had saved N1 trillion as a result of fuel subsidy removal, the administration had inherited a broke country with debt over N30 trillion.

The Senate President expressed the government’s readiness to partner with the unions to proffer lasting solutions to the perennial trade disputes in the country, through the enactment of laws.
