Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Calvin Bassey have been named in the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 team of the tournament. The announcement was made on Wednesday following the conclusion of the competition in Morocco.
Osimhen scored four goals and provided two assists to help the Super Eagles secure the bronze medal. Lookman, with four goals and three assists, was recognised for his goal contributions for the second consecutive tournament, while Bassey anchored Nigeria’s defence, keeping clean sheets in the knockout stages.
Senegal won the 2025 AFCON, defeating Morocco 1-0 after extra time in the final. Nigeria claimed third place, beating Egypt in a penalty shootout.

The CAF best XI also features Sadio Mane, named the tournament’s best player, Brahim Diaz, the top scorer, and Yassine Bono, awarded best goalkeeper, alongside Idrissa Gueye, Pape Gueye, Achraf Hakimi, Moussa Niakhaté, and Noussair Mazraoui.
