Victor Osimhen has become the first Nigerian footballer to score 10 goals in the UEFA Champions League. The striker reached the milestone after netting the only goal in Galatasaray’s 1-0 win over Liverpool in Istanbul on Tuesday night.
Osimhen converted a penalty in the first half after Dominik Szoboszlai fouled Barış Alper Yılmaz in the box, sending goalkeeper Alisson Becker the wrong way. The goal takes him ahead of Obafemi Martins as Nigeria’s highest scorer in the competition.
