In response to renewed communal violence between the Ifon and Ilobu communities, Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has ordered the immediate imposition of a curfew in both areas. The decision was announced by the State’s Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, in a statement released in Osogbo, the State capital.
To prevent further escalation of the conflict, a 7 pm to 7 am curfew will be enforced, effective from Thursday, 16th January 2025. The curfew will remain in place until further notice, as part of efforts to restore peace and stability in the affected communities.

Governor Adeleke’s decision follows the recent outbreak of violence between the two communities, with the state government stressing the importance of maintaining order and safeguarding lives and property. The curfew is a key step in ensuring that tensions do not escalate further.
The government has also pledged to continue monitoring the situation closely, while working with security agencies to enforce the curfew and secure the area.
