Dozens of people have been killed and several others declared missing after suspected bandits attacked Baure village in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State. The incident occurred on Tuesday when the assailants went on a house-to-house rampage in the village, which is known to be a stronghold for bandits.
A resident, who wished to remain anonymous, told newsmen that around 15 people were killed on the spot, with many others still unaccounted for. The Police Spokesman, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the attack on Friday, but provided no further details.

Eyewitnesses speaking to BBC Hausa reported that the victims were mainly from Charanchi, Safana, Kurfi, and Kaita LGAs, and had been attacked on Thursday while returning from a condolence visit in the neighbouring Batsari LGA. The casualty figure was estimated to be over 30.
The Katsina State Police Command had not yet officially confirmed the incidents.
