Oyo Government Says N30bn Bodija Relief Fund Still Unused

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has said that a N30 billion federal government fund meant for victims of the Bodija explosion in Ibadan remains unused. He made the disclosure while responding to comments by former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose.

Makinde said the fund was approved by the federal government to support recovery efforts following the January 2024 explosion that killed several residents and destroyed properties. He stated that despite the approval, the money has not been released for use.

The governor explained that the state government has continued relief and reconstruction efforts using its own resources and affected residents are being supported through compensation and rebuilding plans already underway.

Makinde urged public commentators to verify facts before making claims about the handling of the Bodija disaster. He said the state remains committed to ensuring justice and relief for all victims.
