Oyo State Boosts Budget for Persons with Disabilities by 70%

The Oyo State Government has significantly increased its 2025 capital budget allocation for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) by over 70% compared to 2024 levels.

Governor Seyi Makinde, represented by his deputy, Bayo Lawal, announced the development during the 2024 Stakeholders’ Summit and International Day of Persons with Disabilities in Ibadan on Monday. Highlighting the government’s commitment to inclusivity, the governor noted that the increased allocation was a direct response to proposals submitted by PWD representatives during recent budget town hall meetings.

The 2025 capital budget for PWDs now stands at ₦877.5 million, up from ₦492 million allocated in 2024. In addition, the overhead cost for the Oyo State Agency for Persons with Disabilities has risen from ₦315 million to ₦345 million.
