Palestinian Authority’s Shtayyeh Meets US Senators In Ramallah

Mohammad Shtayyeh, the Prime Minister of the caretaker government of Palestine, has met with a delegation of US lawmakers in his office in Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.

Palestinian news agency, Wafa, reports that Prime Minister Shtayyeh told the delegation, which included US Senators Cory Booker and Michael Bennett, that Washington should push for an immediate ceasefire and for humanitarian relief for civilians in the besieged enclave.

According to him, the Gaza Strip is facing an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe due to Israeli aggression, and it needs a Marshall Plan that includes relief, reconstruction, and economic recovery as soon as the aggression stops.

The Marshall Plan was the US economic assistance plan for Europe after World War II.

Mr. Shtayyeh, who resigned last week, also told the senators that US vetoes in the UN Security Council are enabling more Israeli aggression, and that Washington should restart funding the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

On its X handle, UK-based charity, Save the Children, says families in Gaza are unable to find anything to feed their children, and are being forced to forage for scraps of food left by rats and eating leaves out of desperation.
