The Palestinian National Council has accused Israel of deliberately targeting journalists in Gaza, saying they have been killed, detained, and prevented from reporting freely since the conflict began more than two years ago. The council said media offices and equipment have also been destroyed in what it described as an attempt to suppress coverage and hide the truth.
In a statement published by the Wafa news agency, it said such actions breach international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions, which guarantee journalists’ protection during conflict. The council criticised what it called “international silence” that has allowed Israel to act with impunity.
