**Palestinian Journalist Named Among Financial Times’s Most Influential Women**
Bisan Owda, a journalist based in Gaza, has been recognised by the Financial Times as one of its 2024 Most Influential Women, celebrated for her unflinching documentation of life under Israel’s military offensive.
The Financial Times highlighted Ms Owda’s ability to vividly portray the hardships endured by Palestinians during the ongoing conflict. Her social media presence, marked by videos beginning with the phrase, ‘I’m still alive,’ has captured global attention since the war began.
Ms Owda has used her platform to share harrowing images of displacement camps, malnourished children, and devastated neighbourhoods. The publication noted her emotional candour, describing how she rages against Israel’s relentless attacks which have claimed thousands of civilian lives, and shows her tears while reporting.

In addition to her social media influence, Ms Owda was awarded a prestigious Peabody Award for her short documentary titled ‘It’s Bisan from Gaza and I’m Still Alive’, created in collaboration with AJ+. The film brought further international recognition to her powerful storytelling.
