The Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, has called on the Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, to take urgent steps toward resolving the political turmoil in Rivers State.
In an open letter dated 16 April and signed by its National Chairman, Ambassador Godknows Igali, the South-South advocacy group described the reinstatement of Governor Siminalayi Fubara as essential for democratic integrity and national cohesion.

While commending the Speaker for establishing an Ad-hoc Committee to monitor the crisis, PANDEF stressed that political stability in Rivers State is critical—not only for regional governance but for Nigeria’s wider economic and democratic health.
Referring to the state as the ‘nerve centre’ of the nation’s oil and gas sector, PANDEF warned that prolonged instability could undermine investor confidence and weaken Nigeria’s economic resilience at a time of mounting national challenges.
