Papa Ajasco Actor Abiodun Ayoyinka Laments Financial Struggles

Veteran Nigerian comic actor Abiodun Richard Ayoyinka, best known for his role as Papa Ajasco, has revealed he is facing financial difficulties despite decades in the entertainment industry. He says he currently has no house or car of his own and struggles with limited acting opportunities.

Ayoinka explained that the character he played for years is trademarked by Wale Adenuga Productions, preventing him from using it outside the show. This has made it difficult to secure advertising deals, film roles, or public appearances, leaving him reliant on irregular episode payments.

The actor also highlighted the decline of the Papa Ajasco television series, which was once a household favourite. He appealed to fans to continue supporting the programme and said he is working on a new project, Gen Z Papi, aimed at introducing the show to a younger audience.

Despite the hardships, Ayoyinka remains committed to protecting the legacy of Papa Ajasco. He noted that public perception of wealth linked to the character does not reflect his reality and called on companies, producers, and the public to offer him more acting opportunities.
