Pay 100 Million or We Attack Bandits Threaten Kebbi Community

Ten People Killed in Reprisal Attack in Kebbi

Armed bandits have demanded 100 million naira from residents of Utouno community in Ngaski Local Government Area of Kebbi State, threatening to attack if the money is not paid. The demand was delivered in a letter to community leaders and referenced a previous assault on Woro in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State. Residents say the letter was received seven days ago and has caused widespread fear.

Kebbi State Government has confirmed the threat. The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris, said security personnel, including air surveillance teams, have been deployed to the area to prevent any attack. Community leaders say some families have left, while others remain and are appealing for more protection.
