The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has accused President Bola Tinubu of exceeding his constitutional authority by suspending Governor Siminalayi Fubara during the period of Emergency Rule in Rivers State.
The party’s Deputy National Youth Leader, Timothy Osadolor, speaking in Abuja, said the action undermines the separation of powers and sets a dangerous precedent for Nigerian democracy.

He argued that no president has the power to suspend elected governors, warning that such a move erodes constitutional safeguards and risks unchecked executive dominance. Osadolor added that Nigerians deserve an apology for what he called an “arrogant violation” of democratic norms.
Mr. Osadolor also demanded a probe into what he called a “six-month aberration of an occupational government.” He further accused the National Assembly of complicity, urging stronger institutions and renewed respect for the Constitution to prevent future abuse of power.
