The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed President Bola Tinubu’s New Year broadcast, describing it as a “gloomy” outlook for Nigerians in 2025.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, accused the president of being disconnected from the daily struggles of citizens. He argued that the speech failed to chart a clear course for the nation or offer tangible solutions to Nigeria’s pressing challenges.

According to Mr Ologunagba, the president did not present a definitive plan to tackle critical issues such as the rising cost of petroleum products, the widespread hunger across the country, and the faltering productivity of key sectors.
He further criticised the address for lacking a solution-oriented approach to vital areas such as electricity, oil and gas, and road infrastructure, which he described as essential to the welfare of the population.
