The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Kabiru Turaki, has rejected the Court of Appeal judgment that nullified the party’s national convention held on November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State. The party says it will challenge the ruling at the Supreme Court.
In its decision delivered on Monday, the appellate court upheld an earlier judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja, which restrained the PDP from conducting the convention. A three-member panel dismissed the party’s appeal challenging the jurisdiction of the lower court to hear the case.
The court held that the PDP breached constitutional provisions guiding the conduct of its convention and failed to properly notify the Independent National Electoral Commission as required by law. It also ruled that congresses were not held in more than fourteen states before the convention, a condition required under the law.

Reacting to the verdict, the PDP faction led by Turaki said its lawyers have been directed to file an appeal at the Supreme Court. The party called on members to remain united as it seeks a final legal resolution of the dispute.
