Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has called for tough sanctions against Nigerian leaders found guilty of corruption. In a statement issued on Tuesday to mark International Anti-Corruption Day, Obi emphasised the urgent need to end economic wastage in the country and address the nation’s high debt burden.
Obi lamented the prevalence of corruption across all levels and arms of government, describing it as a major impediment to Nigeria’s development. He linked the country’s growing debt profile to what he termed the government’s insatiable appetite for loans, urging immediate action to curb further economic damage.
