Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Mr Peter Obi, has paid tribute to former President Muhammadu Buhari, recalling a personal encounter in which the late leader urged him to always prioritise the needs of poor Nigerians.
Speaking to journalists during a condolence visit to the late president’s family in Daura, Katsina State, Mr Obi said Buhari’s message of humility and service remained deeply etched in his memory.

He described the former president as a man who embodied simplicity and made a heartfelt appeal for leaders to serve with the awareness that life is fleeting.
Since his demise on Sunday at a clinic in London, and internment on Tuesday in his hometown, mourners from across the political spectrum have continued to visit the late leader’s residence.
