Peter Obi Urges Nigerians to Register and Safeguard Voter Cards

Peter Obi Reaffirms One-Term Pledge, Says Four Years Enough for Purposeful Leadership

Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has urged Nigerians to take part in the Continuous Voter Registration, describing the Permanent Voter Card as the most powerful tool for building a new Nigeria. Writing on X, he said the PVC is “the voice of the voiceless, the shield of the weak, and the weapon of the poor against injustice and bad leadership.”

Mr Obi emphasized that Nigerians must organise to make election rigging difficult and warned against selling votes. He said politicians who buy votes do so only to gain access to public funds for looting, while citizens who sell votes mortgage the future of their children and deny themselves better education, healthcare and jobs.

He called on voters to elect leaders with competence, character, capacity and compassion, warning that those who offer money in exchange for votes are “criminals in disguise.”

Mr Obi concluded that a “New Nigeria is possible” if citizens register, collect and safeguard their voter cards, and use them wisely when the time comes.
