The Nigeria Police Force in Kebbi State says 44 people have been killed in coordinated attacks on several communities in Shanga Local Government Area. The affected villages include Gebe, Kalkami, Kawara, Kasoshi, Awaye, Tungar Rini, Binuwa and Dabe.
Police spokesperson, Bashir Usman, said a statewide clearance operation has been launched on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to prevent further attacks and restore security.
The police said deployments have been reinforced across the affected areas, with operations targeting forests, farmlands, border communities and remote settlements through coordinated patrols and intelligence-led searches.

Authorities also confirmed the recovery of two AK-47 rifles along the Illo-Kamba axis, while the Commissioner of Police, Umar Hadejia, has urged residents to cooperate with security agencies as investigations continue.
