The Lagos State Police Command has deployed 5,000 officers across the state to strengthen security during the Yuletide season. The move is aimed at protecting lives and property and ensuring smooth movement during the festive period.
The command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, said the officers have been assigned to traffic duties on major highways, inner roads and identified traffic-prone areas. She said the deployment is to manage congestion and ensure free flow of vehicular movement during the holiday rush.
According to the police, the operation includes conventional officers, tactical units, intelligence operatives and marine police to intensify patrols on land and waterways.
