The Ebonyi State Police Command says it has neutralised a notorious criminal kingpin, identified as Isaiah Okoronkwo. He had been on the Command’s wanted list for a long time and was described as a high-value target.
Police spokesperson, Superintendent Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the operation in a statement on Wednesday. He said the action followed a surge in armed robbery and criminal activities in the Iyonu community of Ishielu Local Government Area.

According to Ukandu, operatives of the Crack Squad stormed the gang’s hideout in Iyonu Forest after receiving credible intelligence. The suspects engaged the police in a gun battle, during which the kingpin was killed. Two AK-47 rifles were recovered from the scene.
The Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi State, Adaku Uche-Anya, praised the officers for their professionalism and assured residents that the Command remains committed to protecting lives and property while dismantling criminal networks.
