The Kebbi State Police Command says it has killed one suspected bandit and arrested three others during coordinated operations in Maiyama and Shanga Local Government Areas. Police spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, said the operations followed separate attacks on residents in Botoro Gadi and Kwari communities by armed bandits.
In Maiyama, eight gunmen reportedly invaded the home of one Alhaji Sani in Botoro Gadi, abducting two residents. A combined team of police officers and local vigilantes pursued the attackers and engaged them in a gunfight, killing one suspect and recovering a dane gun and empty cartridge shell.
Another attack in Kwari village, Shanga Local Government Area, saw two residents abducted before police, soldiers and vigilantes intervened. The kidnappers abandoned their victims and fled into the forest with gunshot wounds. Police also arrested one Musa Muhammad at Takware village for unlawful possession of ammunition.
