Police Uncover Illegal Baby Factory in Ekiti State

Operatives of the Ekiti State Police Command have uncovered an illegal baby factory in Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti State. The Commissioner of Police, Joe Eribo, said the discovery followed a tip off, leading to the arrest of the prime suspect, Onyechi Oluwadare, and four others at a premises behind a hotel along Ise Ekiti Road, Ikere Ekiti.

Police said those arrested include Onuoha Gloria, Victoria Linus, Ihegbogu Mercy, and a pregnant woman identified as Emmanuel Esther. A search of the premises led to the rescue of six children aged between two and nine, suspected to be under bondage and exploitation. Items recovered include baby delivery materials, dexamethasone tablets and bottles of Goya oil. The prime suspect denied running a baby factory, saying the building was used for prayers.

In a separate operation, police also arrested Ibrahim Abubakar, described as a notorious cattle rustler wanted in Ekiti, Kwara and Kogi States. Police said he confessed to cattle rustling, with 255 cattle recovered from him and an additional 303 cattle recovered from another suspect, bringing the total number of recovered cattle to 558.
