The National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, has criticized security personnel – policemen and soldiers inclusive – of stealing and selling arms to criminal elements. He made the remarks in Abuja on Friday during the destruction of arms by the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons.
Mr. Ribadu described security agents involved in such activities as “worse human beings” and stressed the need for immediate measures to curb the practice, which he says threatens the country’s peace and stability.
He emphasized that those who divert arms from their own formations to aid criminals are contributing to the nation’s insecurity, calling for urgent action to end the trend.

The NSA also condemned the actions of security personnel who enable the flow of weapons to terrorists and bandits, revealing that many illicit arms used in crimes originally come from government sources.
