The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics has issued a 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government over what it called lingering welfare and funding issues. The association warned of a nationwide strike if the demands are not met.
The ultimatum, which began on 27 August, was issued in a communique at the end of the union’s 77th General Executive Council meeting held at the Audu Bako College of Agriculture in Danbatta, Kano State.

Union leaders listed demands including the release of the new Scheme of Service, renegotiation of the 2010 Agreement, payment of outstanding arrears, and the release of the 2023 to 2025 Needs Assessment Funds.
The communique, signed by President Philip Ogunsipe and National Secretary Shehu Gaya, accused the Federal Government of insincerity and of paying lip service to the education sector despite previous agreements.
