Nigeria’s power minister apologizes for electricity outages

The minister of power, Mr Sale Mamman, is apologising to Nigerians over the current power outages Nigerians are experiencing in many parts of the country. This is according to Mr Aaron Airtimas, Senior Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister of Power, in a statement released in Abuja yesterday.

According to the statement, Mr Mamman says that he regrets this unfortunate situation and offers his sincere apology to all affected Nigerians for the inconveniences the power shortages is causing them while assuring Nigerians that the ministry through the appropriate agencies is working assiduously to rectify the technical and gas problems affecting the plants.

Many parts of the country have been without electricity or have received poor supply in recent weeks owing to the breakdown of some of the National Integrated Power Plants supplying electricity to the national grid. The plants are namely, Sapele, Afam, Olonrunsogo, Omotosho, Ibom, Egbin, Alaoji and Ihovbor. Meanwhile, The Jebba Power Plant is shut down for annual maintenance.
