Despite improved national power generation, residents and businesses in Kaduna, Katsina, and Kano continue to face erratic electricity supply. The rainy season, usually associated with stronger output from hydropower plants, has offered little relief.
Industry sources blame vandalism, poor bill payment culture, and the challenges of balancing supply between industrial hubs and residential areas. Distribution companies insist efforts are ongoing to allocate electricity fairly, though many communities complain of long blackouts and low voltage.

In Katsina, the impact has been severe. Small businesses, including welders, bakeries, and shop owners, report huge losses, while households struggle with food preservation and daily routines. Many have turned to solar power and generators to cope. Business owners warn that livelihoods are collapsing, with some saying they endure up to ten days without electricity or receive supply too weak to power appliances.
