Local government chairmen reinstated by the Appeal Court under the All Progressives Congress, APC, have given council workers a 72-hour deadline to return to work. The chairmen resumed control of council secretariats across Osun State on Monday.
However, newly elected officials from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, backed by Governor Ademola Adeleke, did not report to their offices as instructed. In response, the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees have advised council workers to stay away, citing security concerns.

Amid rising tensions, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has deployed additional officers to Osun State at the request of the state police command. Authorities say the reinforcements aim to prevent violence and maintain order as the power struggle between rival political factions continues.
