President Tinubu approves recruitment of 1,000 forest guards for Plateau

President Ahmed Bola Tinubu has approved the recruitment of one thousand youths from Plateau State to serve as forest guards, as part of efforts to address long standing insecurity in the state. The approval follows years of violence in rural areas, where clashes between farmers and herders have persisted for more than two decades.

The Vice President, Kashim Shettima, announced the decision on Tuesday during a reception held to welcome Governor Caleb Mutfwang into the All Progressives Congress. He said the recruitment would begin soon and described it as a step towards restoring security and ensuring that the benefits of governance reach the people of the state.

VP Shettima also said contractors would mobilise within three weeks for the construction of the Akwanga Jos road, which he described as vital to Plateau State. He added that Plateau would be the first state where the Federal Government would flag off its livestock development project, urging residents to support the administration’s development agenda.
