President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Japan for the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development, which opens on Tuesday in Yokohama. His aircraft landed at Haneda International Airport in the early hours, where he was received by senior Japanese and Nigerian officials.
The president is expected to take part in plenary sessions on Africa’s economic transformation, private sector investment, and human security. He will also hold bilateral meetings and meet Japanese business leaders with interests in Nigeria.

The summit, themed ‘Co-create Innovative Solutions with Africa’, is jointly organised by Japan, the UN, UNDP, the African Union Commission and the World Bank. It takes place every three years, alternating between Africa and Japan.
Following the conference, President Tinubu will travel to Brazil for a state visit and talks with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
