President Bola Tinubu, addressing the Arab-Islamic Summit on Monday, called for an urgent end to the ongoing conflict in Gaza, describing the protracted violence as a source of ‘immeasurable suffering.’
Speaking to an assembly of leaders from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, OIC, and the League of Arab States, President Tinubu, who said the conflict in Palestine has persisted for far too long, urged swift action to halt the Israeli attacks.
The extraordinary summit, convened in Riyadh, aimed to address escalating tensions in the Middle East. According to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the gathering built on discussions from last year’s Riyadh summit, with an emphasis on coordinated regional responses to the humanitarian crisis.
President Tinubu also reiterated Nigeria’s longstanding commitment to a two-state solution, advocating for a peaceful coexistence in which Israelis and Palestinians could live in security and dignity. He appealed for an immediate ceasefire, underscoring the need for diplomatic efforts to bring lasting stability to the region.
