President Bola Tinubu has praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, saying his achievements in the FCT contributed to the All Progressives Congress victory in the recent area council elections.
On Saturday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted elections in the six area councils of the FCT. By-elections were also held in Ahoada East II and Khana II state constituencies in Rivers State, as well as Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies in Kano State. The APC won all the seats except the Gwagwalada Area Council chairmanship in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), which was won by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement issued on Sunday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu congratulated the winners and the leadership of the APC at the national and state levels. He also commended INEC, security agencies and voters for the peaceful conduct of the polls.

The President urged those elected to serve with humility, patriotism and dedication, describing their mandate as a sacred trust. He further called on INEC to continue improving the electoral process to strengthen democratic institutions in the country.
